Making Teapots or Cruets




a 2-part workshop with Marg Killey

Think of teapots as not just functional pieces. They can also be sculptures or abstract flights of fancy!

Join us for this fun and challenging workshop where Marg will guide us in creating our own teapots or cruets (smaller tall vessels that hold oil, soy sauce, etc).


Skill level: Level 1 (beginner) to Level 2 (intermediate) depending on your design

You must be comfortable making the components independently (thrown or hand built)

Session 1 - Sunday Februray 23rd @1:30 pm

Marg will discuss the elements of a teapot, how form affects functionality and guide us in our teapot designs. We will also have sample teapots on hand to test out.

Please bring a pencil and drawing pad to write down your ideas and notes.

During the following week, we will be creating the teapot components independently. They can be hand built or thrown. We then get together for…

Session 2 - Sunday March 2nd @1:30 pm

Marg will guide us in assembling our teapots from our pre-made components.

We will discuss decorating and glaze ideas (to be done independently after the workshop).


The details:

  • You must be able to attend BOTH sessions

  • Registration is required and is open to members 18 years and over

  • 2 Session course fee is $15, due with registration

  • You will use your own clay and be creating the components independently

  • Prerequisites: completion of Introduction to Pottery

  • Please plan to arrive a few minutes early, bring a hand towel
