Seamless Cylinders

Kicking it up a Notch!

Unless you throw a cylinder on the potter’s wheel you will have to join the vertical edges of the handbuilt cylinder with a seam. There are many ways to do this but most often it is hard to hide the seam without a lot of smoothing. Also having to smooth the cylinder destroys any impressed texture that you may have made then you rolled out the clay.

This workshop will show you how to make one without a seam! No access to a slab roller or rolling pin? Instead, try this fun way to produce a hand built cylinder! This also allows even impressions all around and gives the cylinder a smooth, professional look. Then turn the cylinder into a cup, vase, or whatever you wish!

Recycled clay will be provided or use your own.
